2015 - AOTV Ministry Report

2015 - IN REVIEW

While serving God in Romania since 1994, we’ve entered the 10th year of 24/7 broadcast with our Alfa Omega TV satellite channel. Alongside the growing impact of traditional TV, in 2015 we pushed for the diversification of media channels making a joint impact on viewers. Most notably there were the digital media tools, followed by the printed Alfa Omega TV Magazine. We’ve also improved our ministry component, with live shows with prayer, counseling, follow-up materials and networking with churches. We are grateful to God and to all our partners for supporting us in 2015!

Alfa Omega TV - 20 years anniversary - June 1994-2014

AFTER 20 YEARS...

After the founding of Alfa Omega TV, in 1994, for many years God asked us to do simple things: translating programs, selling video cassettes, providing Christian programs to local commercial television networks from Romania. We are still doing these activities, but on a different level. In 2000 we began producing our own TV programs, our flaghsip program The Way, the Truth and the Life was first broadcast live on a local station from Timișoara, and then distributed to other networks in various cities of Romania. God opened doors for sending programs to TV stations with national coverage and through satellite, and initiated new media pioneering projects.

In 1998, in a yearly newsletter, I remember writing for the first time about the vision received from God to launch a 24/7 satellite TV channel, with European coverage. Faith and continuous prayer were necessary so that these promises could grow in our heart and become reality... In June 2006 the Alfa Omega satellite TV channel was launched, with permanent broadcast, the first one of this kind in Eastern Europe.

In the following years, after a long period of moving from one place to another, we settled into our own “Alfa Omega” home, a media center which hosts a television studio and many other media activities and AOTV projects.

People often ask me: “Who supports you financially?” My answer is invariable: “The Lord!”, and then I add: “What He founds, He funds”, and He does it through His children. Thousands, hundreds of people, organizations, friends have been used by God to support and develop the Alfa Omega ministry throughout the years. In this moment of review, no one can take credit, not even us, the ones who have been administrating the resources in these 20 years and have been giving direction to the ministry. This is His ministry! Initiated through revelation, developed through faith and supported by prayer.

Alfa Omega is a ministry through media, part of the great commission: preaching the Gospel and edifying Christians, reflecting what He is doing in these times in Romania!

Tudor Pețan

Greetings and encouragements from a few of our international partners

HISTORY- 20 YEARS OF MISSION THROUGH MEDIA

From its establishment, in 1994, Alfa Omega has been positively influencing the development of the moral-Christian values in Romania through Christian programs and media resources.

1. The activity started in 1994 with the translation and the subtitling of Christian programs, which were later broadcasted through local commercial TV stations from Romania. We still perform this activity. Therefore, numerous TV programs, documentaries, christian films subtitled in Romanian language approaching themes like: family, art, history, religious education and value-based entertainment, are weekly broadcasted by more than 40 local and regional TV stations from Romania. Progressively, many of these video resources became available to those interested, also through books.

2. The year 1999 represents the second milestone in the development of Alfa Omega ministry, marking the beginning of producing Christian TV programs in our studios. In 2000 Alfa Omega begun to weekly broadcast live programs on a local TV channel from Timișoara. The production of programs has been developing in the following years.
The quality and the message of these programs were recognized at European and international level through awards offered by international Christian media organizations.

3. In 2006 we launched Alfa Omega TV channel with 24/7 broadcast and European coverage. From the beginning, our vision and desire was that this channel could be available in every Romanian house. After only one year, the channel became accessible to Romanians from everywhere through internet.

The audience levels placed Alfa Omega TV in 2010 in the top 20 channels in Romania, and was on the Romanian Audiovisual Authority’s must-carry list of channels for Romanian TV networks.

However, a lot of our viewers are still waiting for Alfa Omega TV to be introduced in RCS-RDS or UPC packages in their city and in Dolce, Focus, Digi satellite platforms, or in the IPTV packages.

4. In 2010 was launched the second channel, Alfa Omega International, with special programs for Romanian communities from diaspora and ethnic minorities from Balkans.

5. Now, from our Alfa Omega TV media center, we continue to develop all these projects and we are looking for new possibilities and technologies to reach Romanians and other communities in Balkans through the Word of God.

The vision of enlarging the media activity led to the beginning of the construction of the building for Alfa Omega media center. In 2010 was inaugurated the new studio of Alfa Omega media center. The finalization of the building is planned for 2014.

Be part of the ministry of mission through media, alongside us, in the future- www.alfaomega.tv/partners

In 1996 I have met Tudor for the first time, in one of the Christian conferences. Since that time we become partners and friends. Before I met Tudor, I started EO International, a few years before. And I didnt know anything about Alfa Omega. But when we met, EO International was ready to supply Alfa Omega Tv with hundreds of programs. So the Lord was working already on the project before we knew. Alfa Omega is Gods work and Gods project and most important thing is that we pray to continue and to finish the AOTV building. It has been wonderful knowing you through the years and and it is such a celebration you are doing for 2012 and i just want to tell you God wants to increase that in 2013. He wants to increse so even more shows produced in romanian, more shows produced to reach people not just in Romania but throughout the region. So I just want to encourage you that God wants to bless you, he wants to increse you in 2013. Gordon Robertson, CEO, Christian Broadcasting Network

We are so thrilled to be a part of Alfa Omega TV in Romania.God bless you. Terry Meeuwsen, host of the 700Club

“Romania is a very historically significant country as it’s surrounded by so many nations from Eastern Europe which has not had the spiritual roots and volume… There are many Christians in Romania. So much can be done there! This is a window of time that the Lord stretched open for us to be involved with all that we can. If we don’t help Romania at this time, which is the country most sensitive and tender towards the Lord, I think we could see a turning of Eastern Europe against Christianity.
It is my privilege to commend to you Mr. Tudor Petan. I have known Tudor for over fifteen years after first meeting him in his home country of Romania. He is well respected by his peers and associates for his vision and passion to reach and connect spiritually with the people of his nation. Tudors unrelenting drive compels him to endure and overcome resistance to his work and ministry. He has accomplished much and will obviously continue to make a significant impact in Romania for decades to come. My wife and I personally support the ministry Tudor founded – Alfa Omega TV and urge others to contribute generously to his great work.” Michael D. Little – President, Christian Broadcasting Network

CBN also produced a story about Alfa Omega TV in August 2010.

Alfa Omega TV Brings Light to Europe

TIMISOARA, Romania -- Almost 21 years have passed since the fall of communism in Romania and the country continues to see a spiritual revival. A growing hunger for Christ has helped one ministry expand from just seven tape machines into a 24-hour Christian television network.

Church bells and heavenly music often fill the air in the busy and historic square in Timisoara, Romania. However, during December of 1989 the countrys people revolted against the communist regime, crying, God exists, God exists!

Timisoara is considered by many to be the spiritual capital of the country, said Tudor Petan of Alfa Omega TV. Its a symbol of the revolution. Its a symbol of freedom.

That political and spiritual freedom is what allowed Petan to launch the Alfa Omega ministry in 1994, five years after the revolution and only one year after he became a Christian.

Myself, I grew up together with the ministry, he said. I came to the Lord 17 years ago and we jumped almost immediately into this media ministry.

The increasing ministry began small. With VHS machines donated by the Christian Broadcasting Network, Petan began translating Christian programs and distributing them to secular stations in Romania. Its not my idea, Petan said. I think it was Gods idea because even during the communist time, we find out later that generation after generation, they prayed for Christian media in Romania -- for a time that the Gospel would be in all homes, available.

In 1999, Alfa Omega began producing its own programs, including its own version of Christian World News. And in 2006, Alfa Omega launched the first Romanian Christian TV channel in eastern Europe. Since that time, the stations viewership and reach have continued to grow.

Many people have to come to the Lord in Romania and we are crying for this, Petan said.

There is yet another milestone for Alfa Omega -- a new building in Timisoara with room to grow the ministry and to increase their faith that God will supply whats still needed. New building for Alfa Omega Television, three story, sprawling space. Did you expect this when you started this all those years ago? CBN News asked Petan.

We pray a lot and God gives us confirmation and even visions and put in our heart that this building will be like a fire, a volcano, Petan replied.

It will bring life and lava also, and it will be light on this place long term, Petan added.

The new facility will bring a light in the countrys spiritual capital and the birthplace of its spiritual revolution.

2. Direct Ministry - We are doing our best to provide prayer and ministry to those in need, through live TV programs and our follow-up ministry.

3. Spiritual life & growth - Many of our resources are for discipleship, to help people deal with issues, know God better, grow spiritually and be equipped for ministry.

4. Christians’ relevance to society - Every Christian is called to be salt & light, as they know God, mature and deal with issues. We do our best to encourage & equip regular believers to represent the Kingdom of God in their context.

5. Understanding the times - More than just being spiritually mature and a light in one‘s community, we believe it is important for Christians to understand the times we live in, to prepare and to prayerfully respond to them. We present realities from a Christian perspective.

6. Reflecting God’s work in Romania - By reflecting what God is doing through His Church in Romania, we connect believers and broaden their perspective.

The new facility will bring a light in the countrys spiritual capital and the birthplace of its spiritual revolution.

Alfa Omega Tv - Part of God’s plan for Romania in 2010

Alfa Omega TV - in the top 20 must-carry channels in Romania

Based on an audience study performed by the Romanian Audiovisual Authority, Alfa Omega TV is rated 19th among the most watched Romanian channels, being on the Audiovisual Authority’s “must-carry” list for cable networks.

Alfa Omega Tv se doreste a fi o alternativa in peisajul audiovizual romanesc, iar acest sondaj confirma dorinta romanilor de a urmari un alt fel de programe decat cele transmise in mod curent la televizor.

We were blessed to see that our channel became an integral part of Romanians lives, as by Gods grace, we strive to become a relevant Christian alternative for the Romanian population.

Also, the must-carry recommendation opened new doors with cable operators and other networks that were previously unaccesible.

Increased distribution

Greater impact - TV channel

We’ve experienced an unprecedented growth in Alfa Omega TV channel’s impact in Romania, Moldavia and Romanian communities in Europe. Many cable and IPTV networks introduced Alfa Omega TV following the Romanian Audiovisual Authoritys must-carry recommendation.

AOTV in Bucharest via cable

We were happy to penetrate the cable market of Bucharest – UPC Romania, one of the two major cable networks introduced the Alfa Omega TV channel in the Romanian capital, as well as several other cities in Romania, thus increasing our potential audience by several hundred thousand households.

Secular TV stations

We’ve increased the number of local secular TV stations we work with. We now provide hundreds of hours of Christian programs to 42 secular TV stations in Romania and Republic of Moldova, with a potential audience of 2-3 million.

Alfa Omega TV International - Second TV channel

In October 2010, we launched a second TV channel – Alfa Omega TV International – a discipleship/teaching channel focusing on Christians. This channel will also serve as a key vehicle for programs in other Eastern European languages, to support Christian media ministries in the surrounding countries.

Media resources

We’ve redesigned our site, also adding many media elements and videos, leading to an increase in website traffic. We’ve also seen a growth of resources for equipping the Body of Christ (TV teaching series, DVD distribution, publishing, online bookstore, video on demand, media partner for significant events).

Alfa Omega TV - Anniversary

In summer 2010, Alfa Omega TV celebrated 4 years of being on air 24/7; we also celebrated 16 years of serving God in the Romanian media. We were happy to celebrate this event with our closest collaborators.

2014 - AOTV Ministry Report

2014 in review

Looking back at 2014, we are thankful for completing a transitional year. We already see 2015 as marking a new season of ministry, but many seeds were planted last year.

2014 brought unprecedented growth, yet we have also faced new challenges, as we navigate uncharted waters in media, technologically and spiritually. At the same time, we are positioned in an increasingly complex geopolitical context, affecting our region.

We are thankful to God for helping us continue doing ministry through media in S-E Europe, and to all our partners that stood beside us during 20 years of activity.

By My Spirit, says the Lord (Zech 4:6)

Alfa Omega TVDear friends of Alfa Omega TV,

Miracles are the means through which God interferes with our life, responding to prayers, changing circumstances. For citizens of the Kingdom, the supernatural becomes a natural way of living. God is a God of love, of righteousness, but He is also a God of miracles. Where our efforts and abilities reach their limits, God works on our behalf.

A few years ago, I posted on the front door of my apartment a small yellow card on which it was written in capital letters: EXPECT A MIRACLE. Every day, when I leave the house, I cannot avoid reading this message. Sometimes, when I am heading out of my apartment, ready to start a new day, I lay my hand upon the card for a few seconds and I say: “God, I begin this day expecting to receive by faith Your miracles for me, for my dear ones and for Your work, Alfa Omega ministry.”

In October 2011, the Holy Spirit told my wife Mirela and I to write in our agenda, at the end of each day, the miracles He had done for us during that day. Writing every night, I was amazed by the many extraordinary things He did for us every day. Not a day went by without His divine intervention in our lives, without an answer from Him, without solutions to our problem, without a new understanding of things and circumstances through revelation.

The key verse that I received from the Lord back in 1994, at the beginning of our ministry, serving as a motto at Alfa Omega TV is from Zechariah 4:6: “‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts.”  Looking back, I see the miraculous way in which the Lord has watered and has caused to grow this Christian media ministry in a post-communist country for the past 18 years. But, besides this, He discretely, unspectacularly, and sometimes painfully performs the miracle of changing my life every day along with serving in the media ministry Alfa Omega TV. If He transformed me - an atheist who rejected God  for 40 years, focusing on his career and on the values of this world - He can cause a profound transformation in millions of Romanians.

I believe that in the near future, God will bring a season when His Church wil be empowered, just as in the day of Pentecost, in the entire nation of Romania. I believe that Alfa Omega ministry is also called to be a catalyst, one of the channels through which the overflowing of the presence, the power and the anointing of the Holy Spirit will be reaching millions of Romanians.
Is He able to change a nation in just one day?

Tudor Petan
President, Alfa Omega TV

Witness and catalyst for revival movements in Romania - 2010

Over a year ago, God challenged us to enter into a new level of walking by faith, experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit, and to be, as a Christian media ministry, a witness and a catalyst for revival in Romania. We said YES! And since then, we feel we have passed a point of no return.

TV Programming - media events

Through programs produced and aired on our channel, we’ve approached major themes on God’s agenda for this time: Israel, pro-life, prayer/intercession, worship, ethics in business, inner healing, family, end-time.

We have also organized special media events such as Creation Week, Pro-Family, Prayer for Israel, Prayer for Romania and Women’s Week.

Revival among the young generation

Since 2002, Alfa Omega is a media partner for Peniel, the most significant youth movement in Romania.

Flame of Worship – a yearly youth conference held in the city of Alba Iulia, on  December 1st, the National Day of Romania.

Joshua generation – 3 days of non-stop worship and prayer gathered  worship and prayer teams from Houses of prayer from all over the country.

Alfa Omega Tv stands with Israel

Prayer for Israel Conference - 5th edition
Since 2006, Alfa Omega holds a yearly Prayer for Israel Conference, in collaboration with various organizations such as Exploits Ministry, Christians For Israel International, European Coalition for Israel).

The 2010 conference challenged the Church to understand the biblical perspective concerning Jerusalem andIsrael, the Lord’s divine plan for Jewish people, and to pray for them.

Promotion - pro-Israel initiatives and media resources
We were also active in supporting pro-Israel initiatives such as: “The Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem”, “Memorial Day for Holocaust”.
We also strived to provide resources for the Church, ranging from printed media to video resources (films, documentaries, TV programs, news) about Israel on a weekly basis.

Regional impact - Southeast Europe

We continue to support media ministries in the surrounding countries, by airing programs in 5 European languages, providing training and resources to our Eastern European partners.

We also helped organize the NRB Balkan Media Training in October 2010 in a town nearby Timisoara, with many media people from the region participating.

Prayer movements and other key organizations

We were actively supporting prayer and intercession movements from a variety of denominations, such as Burning Bush, The Olive Tree, The Watchmen network. We provided media coverage, promotion, live transmissions and connections with other movements to help them reach critical mass.

A key moment of 2010 was represented by The Global  Day of Prayer Romania – a special event organized in partnership with GodTV – we provided a live presence from Romania for worldwide broadcast.

Gypsy revival movements were also reflected by covering special events and mass baptisms from the Rroma community.

In 2010, God connected us with other movements that are critical for revival in Romania: Partners in Mission Consortium, Romanian houses of prayer, the Association for Families in Romania, Romanian Parliament’s Prayer Group.
