The prayer meetings organized by the European Union of Prayer take place twice a year in the capitals of the countries holding the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union. The project started 6 years ago.
We began with the European prayer after six years of national prayer in Germany. I understood that more and more questions of Germany deal with European questions. We prayed for Germany, but who is praying for Europe?
The longer, the more this was the question. I was happy to meet some friends in Strasbourg in 2006, and there we understood now we should begin. We started in 2006, then we went in Berlin. From there, we went a half year by half year to the country where the presidency is.
Romania is the 26th country from 28 countries. We went all through Europe to pray where the presidency is. We believe that where the political power is, theres also a spiritual power. Therefore we must go and pray there.
During these meetings, participants pray for all the member states of the European Union, but also for the country holding the office. Recently, representatives of the European Union of Prayer organization reunited for the first time in Bucharest.
People came from all over Europe. Here are almost 45 people from Scandinavia, Italy, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Croatia, Bulgaria, Spain. These people are passionate about intercession, they understand we have a calling to bless countries on the continent through our prayers. They have this good habit of meeting in the countries holding the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Related to Europe, Romania has to play a special role that has to do with its past. They were under pressure for such a long time under the communist regime, but out of this God will do something new. We know it from the Bible and from the history of other nations. There were times of pressure, even for Israel, they were slaves for 400 years in Egypt, but then the time came.
It was an intense week, when intercessors from all Europe prayed for blessings, wisdom and revelation.
Once again I saw how easy it is to be at Gods disposal, not only for seeking the fulfillment of our human purposes and goals, but for trying to find out what He has for our continent. God, what would Romania look like if more people would truly put You in the first place? I just sensed that it is so relevant to come because we have a calling to draw in Romanians into praying for their own nation.
In the last day of this prayer summit in Bucharest, the intercessors were divided into groups and walked on the streets of the city, praying in front of important institutions and buildings of historic value.
I led a group in the Jewish neighborhood. We stopped in different places, for example at the Holocaust Memorial, and at the museum, and we prayed there. We stood before God for this city, for the nation He made us live in. We felt Gods presence in a unique way because we, Romanians, werent alone, people from different parts of Europe were also present.
Ive met many lovely young Romanian Christians, in their twenties and thirties. I really believe Lord is raising up a powerful army of disciples, which encourages me to believe a revival will take place in this nation.
While praying, participants received from God encouraging messages for Romania.
When we went on our prayer walks today, I picked up sadness, grief and sorrow from the past. You could feel it as you walked through the streets. I felt sad about this, but God gave me a scripture. The scriptures is: He has given beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and a spirit of praise instead of despair.
I really feel that as the prayer and worship are rising in this nation, God will change the atmosphere and He will deal with the pain and the suffering of the past.
Somebody saw the earth where we were standing on was shaking. Something will be shaken in Romania and we will be surprised that, after 15-20 years, people will experience a Romania totally different than today.
The final event of the European Union of Prayers meeting in the capital of Romania was hosted by the Good News church. Members of the organization wish to see God working in all the countries of the old continent.
